About Lumis
We are building the compliance testing infrastructure for modern fintech teams — the pre-production sandbox between rule design and production deployment.

Lumis in Plain English
Lumis is the pre-production compliance testing infrastructure for fintech teams.
Every fintech, whether building a payment app, a digital bank, a lending product, or a crypto wallet, has to comply with financial regulations. KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), GDPR data controls, sanctions screening. These aren't optional. Get them wrong and you face regulatory fines, license revocations, or criminal liability.
The catch? Testing whether your compliance controls actually work before you go live is a nightmare. Most teams do it with spreadsheets, manual document reviews, or by testing in staging and hoping it matches production. None of that creates a paper trail regulators will accept.
We replace that mess with a visual, drag-and-drop control builder where you construct your compliance logic as a flow diagram. You run mock transactions through it. You watch in real-time which controls pass, which fail, and exactly why. Every test is logged, signed, and exportable as a PDF audit report.
The result: compliance teams can iterate on controls without waiting for engineers. Engineers can add compliance gates to their CI/CD pipelines. And when a regulator asks for proof that your KYC system works? You hand them a timestamped, tamper-evident audit log instead of a spreadsheet.
The Problem We Solve
The regulatory stakes are real and rising
Financial regulators globally, from the FCA in the UK and FinCEN in the US to MAS in Singapore, are not getting softer. In 2023 alone, global AML fines exceeded $6 billion. Compliance failures don't just cost money; they revoke licenses and end companies.
The compliance testing gap nobody talks about
Every fintech knows they need compliance. Very few have a reliable way to test their compliance logic before it hits real customers. The industry standard is one of three bad options:
- Spreadsheets.A compliance officer builds a decision tree in Excel. Engineers implement something different. Nobody's sure they match. When the regulator asks for a paper trail, the spreadsheet doesn't count.
- Internal tooling. Engineering teams spend months building a custom compliance test harness. It becomes a legacy system nobody maintains. When regulations change, the whole thing needs rebuilding.
- Hope for the best. Test in staging with real (or near-real) data. No structure. No traceability. One failed audit away from disaster.
What Lumis does about it
We insert a testing layer between "we think our rules are right" and "we deployed to production." We don't replace your compliance infrastructure — we give you the sandbox to prove it works.
Who This Is For
Fintech Startups
You're building fast. Compliance is a checklist item that keeps growing. We give you a testing layer you can stand up in a day, with templates for the jurisdictions you operate in.
Compliance Engineers
You own the control logic but have no good way to test changes. We give you a visual test environment with CI/CD integration to run checks automatically.
MLROs & Heads of Compliance
You need to show regulators that your systems work with actual audit logs. We give you ownership over the logic without raising a Jira ticket.
Consultants & Agencies
You rebuild the same workflows for every client. We let you build template libraries and deliver audit-ready documentation as a standard output.
How We Compare
vs. Spreadsheets
Spreadsheets are the default because nothing better existed. Unlike spreadsheets, Lumis allows non-technical users to iterate controls, creates an exportable audit trail, provides a real-time execution trace, and integrates directly with CI/CD pipelines.
vs. Building in-house
Building a compliance test harness takes months and diverts engineering time from your actual product. You wouldn't rebuild your own payment processor. Don't rebuild your own compliance test infrastructure.
vs. Runtime screeners
Tools like Unit21 or Sardine are excellent runtime screening layers because they look at live transactions. Lumis is the layer you use before you plug in a runtime screener to validate that your logic is correct before deployment.
Who Builds Lumis
Lumis is built and maintained by Native Foundry — an independent software studio building developer-first infrastructure tools for regulated industries. We build in public, price transparently, and don't run enterprise sales calls.
Ebo Essel — Co-Founder
Lumis was built after years of watching compliance teams fight spreadsheets and developers burn staging budgets on live RegTech API contracts. The pre-production testing layer fintechs needed existed in every other vertical — it just didn't exist for compliance. Lumis fills that gap.
